Asaf’s Back on A Downtown Affair

We had Asaf of 100 Limousines back on our show last Friday. You may remember his set from almost a year ago in october. This time he brought an entirely new set of records ranging from African disco to Chicago soul. All with a pulse for the dance floor. Mike and I followed with a short set to close out the night.

DAMN ASAF!
HEAT!!!
I am trying to track down a copy (e.g. Mp3 or FLAC or whatever) of the flip side of the Genghis Kyle and the Horde single you posted here – the song is called “Kita”. Any help in linking me to your source for this 45? I have everything else recorded by Genghis Kyle, i.e. his LP and 2 non-LP singles on the LA-based Timbre label, plus his organ playing on a single by the John Lemon Quartet issued on the Tallye label, plus the Jack Wilson album that featured Genghis playing organ on one half, Henry Cain playing organ on the other half. But I’m missing “Kita” and it is driving me nuts! Any and all help will be much appreciated. John Berg, Seattle area — March 2011
John – I don’t have the record, so I’ll have to look into it. I will get back to you soon. Thanks for listening.
Thanks for anything you are able to turn up! I’ll gladly send you a CD-R of everything else Genghis Kyle recorded — a 6 track LP on the Timbre label in 1963, plus 4 other non-LP tracks released on two singles by Timbre, plus two tracks where he accompanies the John Lemon Quartet (Lemon plays the sax) plus the tracks featuring Genghis on the Jack Wilson LP on the Vault label, “The Jazz Organs”. johntberg@msn.com
Hi, it is now Sept. 2012 and I wonder if Asaf Segal is still around to ask about “Kita”, the flip side of that Genghis Kyle 45 on the Matrim label? As I wrote last year, I have everything else by Genghis except this one track, and curiosity alone is urging me on to keep at the search (and hopefully the music itself is listenable too!) Hope to hear from you or Asaf at: johntberg@msn.com
