Andrew Dambeck on ADA
Another step on the delay pedal here at Letsgetserious… Heck, it’s boating season so we’re doing the best we can with updating the website. Fortunately the recent visit by Andrew Dambeck to A Downtown Affair is well worth the wait. Our good friend Pablo – who’s SET is still getting hype over twelve months since it’s broadcast date – linked us up with Andrew and helped arrange his guest mix while he was on a brief stop in NY by way of Milwaukee. Andrew made good use of the full 2.5 hours, showcasing an expansive collection of modern and soulful 45″ selections; there is some serious heat all over this mix with a lot of rarefied tunes, local Wisco releases, and otherwise new material on the program. Andrew also holds court on mixcloud at the Talk of the Town page where you should head to find additional mixes that he’s recorded.

Superb Selection !!
BTW, is the Hot Ice ref correct ? AVI Records ? Great one !
Roger — Yes, it’s AVI-114 from 1976. Really glad you liked it!
Did u guys know that True Effect 45 actually isn’t made by a group called The True Effect? It’s a mistake.. It’s actually a Side Effect song..
Yes, we dive into that during the interview, Fredfades. It appears to be just a one-off EP labeled as the True Effect “Promo Only.” It says 1973 on the label, and Side Effect does not have a documented release (that I am aware of) before 1975. So I’m guessing this is something they put together before they were signed as Side Effect. I once heard that Got To Get Away (also on the EP) was on a different Side Effect LP, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Soul Brother records did reissue Got To Get Away as Run Run Run on 7″, though. The other songs were never released in any other form, unless their song titles were changed (such as in the case of Run Run Run). But if you have any more information on this record, please let me know!
OMG OMG OMG – soooooooooo goood. This was an AMAZING mix. More from Andrew Dambeck please please please.
Great mix and great taste from all across the board … you should do another one of these. Thanks!
Killer selection…
