<312 Boys

Here we are with the recent radio takeover by our good friends <312 Boys, formerly running as Chi Guys from the Windy City. If you haven’t yet heard them, their modern / disco mix on ADA from early January is one that I’ve had in rotation since it’s initial airing and comes highly recommended. For their second trip they presented us with an equally impressive set, this time pulling records from a decade earlier to make for a truly memorable broadcast. This one’s a special one for us, as it’s really the only full-on northern soul broadcast we’ve done on A Downtown Affair… and we couldn’t be happier with it being the singular mix representing this sound that has been gestured at in a few mixes on the show, but until now never served as the focal point of the program. There are some monster tunes on here, and the mix is rich with a wide variety of vibes running throughout the 2 hour set. Plus, things close off with an extended, exclusive ballad section which is a nice highlight to cool things down with. Thanks again to James, Chris & Ben for channeling the vibe of the Windy City Soul Club onto the NY airwaves.
