Coming up this Saturday, we’ve got our 3rd night of Camp Debonair with Stegs of Vietcong Disco. Expect selections mapped across the legacy of specialty dance music with a cool-minded concern for the tasteful, genteel and all encompassing SOFT TOUCH in the night’s programming.

We’ll be soundtracking the Cocktail Hour welcome from 10-11 before settling in. This one’s a spe…cial one as it’s Mike’s Birthday and we’ll be toasting him with some seriously Gentleman cuts throughout the night. And it’s Frantz Barosy’s birthday too- he’ll be stopping by with some records to complement the vibe.

Love On The Run’s “Love Chant” returns to the basement of Von this Saturday with special guests Monk-One and Red Greg. We had a blast at the first party back in January and I can say without a doubt that you don’t want to miss out on this one. Hey y’all, a little last minute heads up – FineLine in effect tomorrow night!

Last month was our most successful FineLine yet, so many thanks to all you that came out and thanks for drinking! There was a posse of 90s DJs in the main room that I didn’t know, but their people were feeling the disco vibe in front, getting their drink on hard until their preferred dude came on in back – real late. The room finally cleared around 2:45 and everyone went into the back for their final 45 minutes of heavy jungle, while Ghostdad and I played the guilty pleasure joints, juggled some doubles, and he gave me a quick tutorial on the built in effects on the mixer(ixer… ixer… ixer… ixer……).

Needless to say had a fun time, so I invited him back for one mo’ gin. He’s dragging another crate of classics down 93 from Boston as part of his protracted relocation.

Right in time for this spate of nice weather, I finally got my hands on a copy of Verticle Lines – Beach Boy, an awesome cruiser of a weirdo summer jam and the first ever release on Tuff City. Here’s a preview til I drop the needle on the genuine article at the Knit! – B4$

Tonight we have our first ever Camp Debonair! Mike, Stegs and myself have been itching to play together for quite some time and we’re excited to be sequestered in the back room of Tandem for such an occasion. We’ll be packing heavy in preparation for a lengthy stay. Now. Let the fun begin. Have some coke and gin!

Last night was staff orientation. The ropes course team & trust building exercises were followed by a counselor only dance. Stegs started off with a set of even-keeled boogie. Mike and I step in with an hour to go, but that just wasn’t enough, so we’ve got a special late set for your enjoyment.
