NYCTrust

NYCTrust on A Downtown Affair

On Friday we welcomed back NYC Trust label mates Oneman and Monk-one. They’re still going strong with their Brooklyn based label and monthly parties down at Sycamore. Keep an eye out for some backyard parties as the weather warms up. Mike and I snuck in a teaser of our old SXSW Mix just before NYCTrust took over. Oneman opened with Wings before diving into a house oriented set and Monk-One followed with a lean toward disco before closing out with some of his own edits. Be sure to give a listen to their prior appearance on the show.

Last Friday marked the return of local boogie heroes GetBKFunk. Finishing off the night was Slimmy Jimmy who managed to work a belated bday gift from Supa Dave into his mix along with an evergreen from Jimmy Ross. Asaf Segal

Asaf Segal on A Downtown Affair

Gassed up the snowmobiles last Friday to make the trek to the studio for a special guest set from Asaf Segal. We played a brief opener in tribute to Donald Byrd and Cecil Womack who each passed away earlier that week. Asaf followed, taking us south out of the cold with tracks spanning jazz, soul and disco while, for the most part, maintaining a Caribbean influence as the common thread. As always with his sets, he brought tons of new sounds for the program. If you enjoy what you hear, be sure to keep an eye on 100 Limousines for new mixes. You can also catch Asaf playing around town at Botanica in Manhattan and Sycamore in Brooklyn. Enjoy!
